Regarding the society’s leaders emphasizing business, you should understand what is the meaning of business. Business means to help the preaching. Preaching needs financial help, otherwise, we have no need for business. So far as I understand, our book business is sufficient to support our movement. I do not want the preaching to be at the expense of managing. Manager must also be a preacher otherwise who will want to follow him? Letter to Tamala

Editor’s Note
First class ISKCON leader must have these two skills: preaching and managing. For preaching, he needs skills like communication, building trust, and presenting Krsna consciousness in a way that people can understand it and be attracted. For managing, he needs to be practical and efficiently use time, money and energy in Krsna’s service, to make the best out of what he has. When he preaches sincerely, based on scriptures and his own realisation, he touches people’s hearts and they come forward to offer service and resources. Thus his preaching facilitates management. And his management of resources is focused on faciliting various preaching activities.
