The holy command of Shri Guru has been that we shall serve Godhead in association with one another. By the word ‘we’ he did not mean any one individual. There are many persons who are very selfish, indeed. They say, ‘I alone shall serve. It is incumbent on me alone. No one else has any claim to join me in my service of Godhead.’
His body is in pretty good shape but the main concern is shis eyes. They are waiting for the swelling to go down before they can operate. He will be in the hospital for one or two weeks. He has no sense of smell or taste but is thankful for the prasadam the devotees in Bangkok are bringing to him.

I was passing Through Madison and thought I’d distribute some books. Krishna arranged for me to meet some interesting people. I gave a book to one guy, and then saw him a few days later. He said that he’d read the book(Chant and Be Happy) and after he read it he got ready for bed and decided to try chanting, then take rest.

In ISKCON we have traditionally used calendars that state “fasting till midnight”, “fasting till noon”, etc. It is only because the temples do not serve prasad before that public worship, and do serve anukalpa (non-grain) prasad after it that devotees think in terms of “fasting till …”
So this argument the butchers or the animal killers or any kind of killer, they cannot put argument. That “Here, Bhagavad-gita says that soul is never killed, na hanyate hanyamane sarire [Bg. 2.20], even after destroying the body. So why you are complaining that we are killing?”
Right next to the temple was an ice cream shop, and at the end of the street there was a doughnut shop - both frequented by devotees. Unless there was a specific function in the temple, many of the devotees could be found in one of the two food shops. Therefore, when Prabhupada would come down from his apartment, he would sometimes pass very slowly in front of the ice cream shop to see if any of his followers were there.

Perhaps I’m afraid of statements like “Sin personified is taking shelter of the grains” or “if you break ekadasi you could fall from Vaikuntha”. To non devotees Ekadasi seems a little ritualistic and bizarre. Just like worship of tulasi devi. I usually don’t get into more detail than “Its a day devotees reduce bodily activites and increase devotional activities”
Could you tell me the criteria used to ascertain whether or not Janmastami this year was mixed with saptami? Hari Bhakti Vilasa clearly states that if astami on Janmastami is mixed with saptami then Janmastami should be observed in navami, not astami.
I often have to encourage devotees, especially those not living in the temples, to rise early in the morning and come to the temple for the morning program, or to have one at home. Devotees should generally rise by 4 am, which means that their lives must be organized in such a way that they get sufficient rest, meaning taking rest early.
On the other hand, Bhakti Swarup Damodar Swami of ISKCON said that whoever carried out this act should to their senses and stop such drastic acts. He asked what one will achieve by killing devotees and innocents, and reiterated that ISKCON has no ill feeling towards anyone and is devoted to religious principles.

Srila Prabhupada was an extraordinary author, teacher, and saint. He managed to spread Krishna Consciousness all over the world, through his writing and preaching.
