Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I offer my condolences to you all. In our few years of association with the Italian yatra, Somaka Prabhu always gave me the example of a sincere devotee possessing a strong serving mood. I remember him working day and night to put together beautiful festivals. Many times his efforts were not acknowledged by our superiors ... but never-the-less he always accomplished his duties so nicely. I sensed that he was a lonely man. I always tried my best to be as jolly and friendly as I could be in his association. Because he was so strong, and his arm muscles were so big, I always called him " Meloni Maharaja " ... joking that he had melons for muscles. We could spend long time laughing, speaking, dancing ... he was a kind and simple vaisnava. Because he gave me good example of service, whenever we would meet I would appreciate him in a joking way and say " Somaka Swami ... he's my poppa and my mommy. " I only saw him a few times after our zone changed in 1986. Last year I was saddened when I heard of his illness. Now I am saddened more. He did many wonderful services in establishing the preaching mission of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. I pray that They bless him fully for his efforts and allow our wonderful godbrother to enter Their eternal service and association. Somaka Prabhu Ki Jaya !! With affectionate regards, BB Govinda Swami |
